The John’s Island Foundation is unique in that we provide funding to charitable agencies in Indian River County specifically for their capital needs: housing, cars and trucks, air conditioning, farm equipment, etc. We do not compete with the good work of the John’s Island Community Service League; instead, we complement their providing operating funds for many of the same agencies.
One of the agencies supported by the John’s Island Foundation is Restoration House. We provided funds for a van to transport clients to and from their facility. Clients come to Restoration House, broken, addicted, with no income and no hope. When they leave, the men and women are able to return to their roles as parents (caring for their own children), they are employed and have budgeted and saved money, they have satisfied their judicial obligations, and they return to the community as productive citizens.
